The Overseas Education College visited the School of Finance and Economics to conduct research on the cultivation of international students

On November 21, Wang Limin, Secretary of the Party Committee of Overseas Education College, and Wu Peng, Dean of the College, paid a working visit to the School of Finance and Economics to conduct research on the cultivation of international students in China.


The symposium, held in the Room 1309, was presided over by Hu Xuhua, Dean of the School of Finance and Economics. The event was attended by some key figures, including Wang Xiang, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Finance and Economics, Li Kaodui, Vice Dean, Wang Xin, Director of the Administrative Office, Zhu Yanjie, Director of the International Education Office, and representatives from faculty directors and supervisors.

At the symposium, Hu Xuhua extended a warm welcome and sincere gratitude to the Overseas Education College for their visit. He provided a comprehensive overview of our school, highlighting key aspects such as the scale of international student enrollment, teaching methodologies, distinctive characteristics of the institution, process management, teaching accomplishments, and scholarship programs. Emphasizing a commitment to further collaboration, he expressed the intention to enhance communication with the Overseas Education College regarding the teaching and training of international students. Hu Xuhua outlined plans to strengthen teaching capabilities through targeted training initiatives, ensuring the high-quality fulfillment of teaching tasks. His overarching goal is to nurture an exemplary group of international students in China, collectively advancing the development of our college's international student programs to new heights.

On behalf of the Overseas Education College, Wu Peng began by expressing sincere appreciation to the dedicated teachers involved in the education and training of international students in China. Highlighting the importance of international student education, he underscored the continuous emphasis placed on it by the CPC Central Committee. Wu Peng stressed the need to elevate the significance of international student training, advocating for a profound integration into the "Belt and Road" education initiative. He emphasized aligning closely with national strategic objectives to enhance the development of international talents, aiming to make substantial contributions to the esteemed brand building of international students.

Subsequently, the two sides conducted in-depth exchanges on issues such as optimizing the scholarship structure, improving the quality of students, improving school management, comprehensively improving the quality of training, and creating rich practical activities on national conditions, and jointly made suggestions for improving the quality of education for studying in China.

In the future, it is necessary to further promote the brand building of "Study in China", tell Chinese stories well, disseminate Chinese experience, and make Chinese voices heard, so as to enhance the international influence and discourse power of China's education, he stressed.

It was emphasized at the meeting that, the School of Finance and Economics is one of the important training bases for international students at Jiangsu University, China, and has cultivated a large number of outstanding international student alumni. Among them, Mumhammad Muzammil Zia, a Ph.D. from Pakistan, has actively participated in the construction of the "belt and road" after graduation, accompanied the minister of Pakistan to visit China many times, and participated in many major events in the construction of the China-Pakistan economic corridor. In addition, the college has won many honors such as advanced unit for high-quality training of international students in China and advanced unit for enrollment. At present, a total of 228 international students from 42 countries are studying at the school.
