To foster a stronger sense of community and mutual understanding, the International Education Office of the School of Finance and Economics hosted a vibrant Cultural Exchange Dinner on the evening of June 15. The event brought together nearly sixty international students and an equal number of Chinese "Student Ambassadors" from various majors within the School.
Held in a warmly decorated campus hall, the evening featured a potluck-style meal where students shared dishes from their home countries, from Korean kimchi to Nigerian jollof rice and Chinese regional specialties. This was followed by informal cultural presentations, including a traditional Indonesian dance, a Russian folk song, and a demonstration of Chinese calligraphy. The informal setting facilitated genuine conversations about academic life, career aspirations, festivals, and daily customs.
The dinner is a key part of the School's broader student support and integration strategy. By creating informal spaces for socialization, it helps international students build robust social networks, alleviates feelings of cultural isolation, and promotes a truly inclusive campus atmosphere. Chinese students equally benefit, gaining international friendships and a more globalized outlook without leaving campus.
