On A 10, the School of Finance and Economics organized an immersive Business Negotiation Workshop, specifically designed to equip international and Chinese students with practical skills for the global business arena. Facilitated by two seasoned professionals—one from an international trade consultancy and another from a multinational corporation’s Asia-Pacific division—the workshop attracted over 40 students from more than 15 countries.

The session began with expert lectures on fundamental negotiation frameworks, cultural dimensions in business communication, and ethical considerations in cross-border deals. Students were then divided into culturally diverse teams to tackle a series of increasingly complex case simulations. These scenarios included negotiating a joint venture agreement between a Chinese tech firm and a European partner, and resolving a supply chain dispute involving multiple countries. The simulations forced participants to navigate language nuances, differing business etiquettes, and contrasting approaches to contract and relationship building.

The interactive debriefing session revealed significant learning outcomes. Many international students shared that they gained a deeper understanding of the importance of "Guanxi" (relationship) and long-term trust in Chinese business culture, while Chinese students reflected on the value of direct communication and explicit contractual terms often preferred in Western contexts. This workshop is a core component of the School's strategy to develop culturally intelligent graduates who can lead and collaborate effectively in international business environments.
