On October 18, 2025, the School of Finance and Economics organized a specialized Financial Literacy Workshop for international students in Room 1304D of Sanjiang Building. Tailored to address the unique financial challenges faced by overseas students—including visa-related costs, Chinese banking systems, and budgeting in a new cultural context—the workshop drew over 50 participants from across the globe.
Led by the school’s finance faculty and guest speakers from local banks, the interactive session covered essential topics such as opening bank accounts in China, understanding credit systems, managing living expenses, and planning for post-graduation financial transitions. Through real-life case studies and group discussions, students learned practical strategies to navigate cross-cultural financial scenarios, from remittance options to emergency fund planning. A hands-on exercise on budgeting for academic and social expenses allowed students to apply their learning to personal situations, with one-on-one consultations available for individualized guidance.
"The workshop was incredibly helpful—navigating financial systems in a new country can be overwhelming, but this session simplified complex concepts," shared a master’s student from Turkiye. The school plans to make the workshop a regular event, complementing its commitment to supporting international students’ holistic development beyond academics.
